Craig Tribolet is Director of Sustainability and External Affairs at APRIL Group, a member of RGE. APRIL Group is one of the world’s largest producers of pulp, paper and board products used by millions of people every day. Its flagship product, PaperOne™, is sold in over 110 countries worldwide.

Craig oversees the delivery of APRIL’s sustainability commitments across the company’s operations in Riau province, Sumatra, Indonesia, and of its APRIL2030 transformation strategy. He also directs the implementation of APRIL’s landscape conservation strategy, including the company’s first Community Conservation Agreements, which are designed to protect and restore natural forest adjacent to its plantation concessions.

Craig spearheaded the creation of APRIL’s Fire Free Village Program (FFVP) in 2014. The FFVP is the first community fire prevention programme in the region. Under his leadership, the programme has grown to partner with nearly 40 communities and covers over 900,000 hectares, more than 12 times the size of Singapore. To date, the programme has successfully reduced community forest fires by almost 90%.

A forest ecologist by training, Craig has more than 20 years’ experience as an operational forester, landscape ecologist and forest firefighter in Australia and Indonesia. He has a Master’s degree in Business Management and is a published author on forest ecology, fire management and wildlife survey techniques. In his spare time, he actively restores native woodlands in Central New South Wales, Australia.
