Tiza Mafira is a law and public policy expert specialising in environmental law, climate change policy and waste policy. She holds a Master’s degree in law from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor’s degree in law from Universitas Indonesia.

Ms Mafira is Director of Climate Policy Initiative Indonesia, a non-profit thinktank and advisory organisation focused on public policy related to land use and energy transitions. She previously worked for six years as a corporate attorney in the Jakarta-based law firm Makarim & Taira S., specialising in natural resources and forestry law. She has also worked at McKinsey & Co, the Boston-based environmental group CERES and the Office of the Special Staff of the President for International Affairs during President Yudhoyono’s first term. She is Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Indonesia Plastic Bag Diet Movement, which pushes for less use of plastic bags in Indonesia. Among her many awards is the United Nations Ocean Hero 2018.
