Tony Tung joined the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) in 2026 to lead its Co-Acceleration Fund, the region's first public-private partnership (PPP) structured as a venture capital fund managed by a Hong Kong statutory body. In this role, he leads investment and exit strategy, as well as the management of the front, middle, and back-office team and investor relation. He drives strategic investments with a global scope focused on high-impact deep tech sectors, specifically targeting generative AI, robotics, aerospace, intelligent connected systems, semiconductors, new energy, and advanced materials.

Prior to HKSTP, he was with NextGen Partners, a new AI-focused US dollar fund of Alibaba, to drive the initial team set up and investment strategies in both the China and the US markets. He began his investment career as the first investment professional of Gobi Partners GBA, a pan-Asian venture capital firm with over 15 offices across the continent, where he built the Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area investment business from the ground up and acted as Managing Director, Responsible Officer, and Investment Committee Member, supporting more than 100 startups across China, North Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and the US. Before moving into venture capital, Tony co-founded two companies focused on fintech and big-data enterprise solutions, where he oversaw product strategy, business development, operations, infrastructure design, and fundraising.

Tony earned dual bachelor's degrees in computer engineering and financial engineering from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. In his free time, he enjoys coding and developing AI algorithms.
