Gina Romero is a Filipino-British entrepreneur, community builder, and technology advocate. As the Founder and Head of Special Projects at Mettamatch, an Ethical Data and AI Services company, she is committed to driving positive change through innovative, socially responsible solutions.
Gina’s community-building journey began in the UK in 2005 when she became a founding member of The Athena Network and later served as Operations Director. This early work laid the foundation for her lifelong commitment to women's economic empowerment.In 2010, Gina moved to Singapore, where she focused on bridging the gender gap in technology by founding Connected Women Singapore in 2013. After relocating to the Philippines in 2016, she co-founded Connected Women as a job-matching platform for Filipino women freelancers. Since 2020, the organization has evolved to specialize in socially responsible outsourcing for the AI industry through its data services business unit, Mettamatch.
Connected Women has gained global recognition for its contributions to inclusive innovation, the future of work, e-employment, and women’s empowerment.In 2022, Gina was named a finalist in the global Women in AI Awards by VentureBeat and received the prestigious TOWNS (The Outstanding Women in the Nation’s Service) award for her work in women’s empowerment through ICT. She serves on the Board of Trustees of De La Salle University and as a Global Awards Council member for SheShapesAI.
